The \granny-style\ lamps have handmade lampshades.

Design duo EigenmannDUROT is transforming ‘granny-style’ lamps into contemporary lighting objects, named Nana.

Swiss based Nina Eigenmann and Iris Durot focus on recycling and sustainability with their series of lighting objects named Nana. The basis for each unique object is an old, worn, second-hand lamp.

The designers technically and visually refurbish the lamps, giving them a white opalescent varnish and a new lampshade. Each characteristic, handmade shade is partially crumpled and lop-sidedly fixed to the base, reminiscent of a somewhat aged and chaotic, granny-like interior. The wrinkled lampshade diffuses the light, giving each piece its own distinctive glow, yet forming a relationship to the other lamps in the series.
